A Queensland man has allegedly tried to rip-off the state government’s back-to-work grant program for more than a million dollars.

The 45-year-old submitted and attempted to submit numerous fraudulent applications worth more than $1.2 million over a two-year period, police said on Thursday.

But he was allegedly only able to fraudulently gain $120,000.

Detectives raided the man’s Brisbane home on Wednesday.

Officers seized a large amount of cash, electronic items, such as mobile phones and laptop computers, portable hard drives, a large number of financial documents in various company names and bank cards.

The man was charged with fraud, attempted fraud, money laundering, possessing tainted property, possessing a dangerous drug and dealing with identification information.

He is scheduled to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on November 30.
