Child infected with COVID in NT quarantine
An infant who returned from India has been diagnosed with COVID-19 while quarantining in the Northern Territory’s Howard Springs camp.

The Northern Territory has recorded a new COVID-19 case after an infant aged under one year tested positive while quarantining near Darwin after returning from overseas.
The mother and a sibling of the child tested positive last week after the family returned to Australia on a Commonwealth repatriation flight from India nine days ago.
NT Health said on Thursday the family was in isolation at the Howard Springs camp under the care of medical staff and remained well.
The child’s 31-year-old mother and a three-year-old sibling were diagnosed with the virus on Wednesday and Thursday last week.
A 31-year-old man, an 82-year-old woman and another child aged three were also diagnosed with the virus on Thursday.
A spokesman has previously said returned overseas travellers were a high-risk group and five to 10 per cent were likely to test positive for the virus.
This brings the total number of cases diagnosed in the NT to 40. All infections are related to travellers coming into the territory and not community transmission.
