Three men allegedly involved in a violent clash between two Northern Territory families which led to a man being run down by a vehicle have been charged.
The groups allegedly fought each other with sticks and an axe in Darwin on Saturday, injuring a number of people, NT police said on Wednesday.
“One family group is then alleged to have driven a stolen motor vehicle at the other group, striking one person who then fled the scene,” a spokesman previously said.
A social media video reportedly of the incident shows a white Toyota Landcruiser ute driving at speed through the car park of the Quality Hotel in the suburb of Jingili in the early hours of the morning.
A man is seen running from the ute before he is hit by the vehicle, causing him to fall down and become pinned against a wall as it passes.
“The incident appears to have rolled from one scene to the next, with police identifying two more people with injuries suffered from earlier altercations,” the spokesman said.
Detectives arrested the three men aged 18, 23 and 41 on Tuesday.
“The behaviours of these individuals is concerning and police will do everything in their power to ensure community safety,” the spokesman said.
The younger men were charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and stealing.
The 41-year-old was charged with acts intended to cause serious harm, recklessly endangering life and aggravated assault along with theft and driving charges.
They were remanded in custody and scheduled to appear in the NT Local Court in Darwin on Wednesday.
