A man has died in hospital after he fell and hit his head during an alleged fight with two other men in Brisbane’s nightlife hotspot.

The 37-year-old suffered critical injuries during the alleged dispute in Fortitude Valley on November 3.

Police say the victim and another friend were out walking about 8.45pm when they became involved in a verbal stoush with two other men in an apartment.

It is alleged the two men then came downstairs from the unit and confronted the victim and his companion in the street.

During the altercation one of the men allegedly punched the victim, causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground.

He was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition but died eight days later on Wednesday, police said.

Two men, aged 28 and 29, were later found in a nearby apartment and taken into custody.

Both have been charged with unlawful striking causing death, and are scheduled to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court in December and January respectively

The younger man was also charged with going armed so as to cause fear and two counts of common assault, while the other man was charged with grievous bodily harm.
