Qld fraudster targets luxury car owners
Luxury car owners have been left empty-handed after a Gold Coast man used stolen cheques to fraudulently buy their vehicles.

A Gold Coast man who went on a four-month luxury car spending spree using stolen cheques has been charged.
The 33-year-old is accused of fraudulently buying 10 cars between July and October, including three Mercedes and two Audis.
Police said the man targeted sellers who listed their cars on sales websites.
After inspecting a vehicle the man would allegedly ask for the seller’s bank account details.
He then allegedly deposited stolen cheques into the victim’s bank account via an ATM before collecting their car.
The cheques would later be rejected by the bank leaving the seller empty-handed.
Police arrested the man on Tuesday.
Officers also seized a Volkswagen Golf. A taser and methylamphetamine was found in the car.
He was charged with 19 offences, including dishonestly obtaining property, unlawful use of motor vehicles, possessing dangerous drugs and dishonestly dealing with identity documents.
The man is scheduled to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on November 9.
