Perth residents are enduring another day of scorching temperatures, with some eastern suburbs climbing to the mid-40s amid heatwave conditions across much of Western Australia.

The Bureau of Meteorology forecast Midland and Ellenbrook to peak at 45C on Thursday with Kalamunda and Armadale predicted to hit 44C and 43C respectively, and Perth forecast to reach a maximum of 41C.

“It’s another hot day today with another hot night (forecast),” a bureau spokeswoman told AAP.

“We are expecting the trough off the coast to start making its way inland tomorrow, potentially dropping the temperatures by a degree or two (on Friday).”

The temperature reached 41.9C in Perth city on Wednesday during its hottest day since February 5, 2022 when the temperature peaked at 42.5C.

In the city’s east, the maximum climbed to 43.2C at the airport and 41.5C in the hills at Bickley.

The heatwave is covering most of WA, with Geraldton Airport recording 45.9C on Wednesday and Carnarvon climbing to 46.6C.
