Hunt for gunman at large after grain silo shooting

Members of the public have been warned to stay indoors as police search for a gunman after a person was injured in a shooting at a grain silo east of Perth.

A major police operation is under way in Kellerberrin and the surrounding districts, where members of the public have been warned to remain indoors.

“The man is believed to be travelling on foot around Mission Road, in the Kellerberrin and Bencubbin areas,” a WA police spokesman said.

“He is believed to be armed and dressed in camouflage clothing.”

The shooting occurred at a grain silo manufacturing plant in Kellerberrin, about 200 kilometres east of Perth, on Thursday about 8.40am.

The armed man fled the site in a vehicle after the incident and the injured person was transported to hospital.

Police have also called for information about the whereabouts of Lachlan Bowles.

A spokesman said the 25-year-old was last seen in town when the shooting occurred.

It is not known what injuries the person taken to hospital has suffered.
