Perth man dead after assault, police say

WA homicide squad detectives are investigating after the body of a man in his 20s was found on the front lawn of a home in Perth’s eastern suburbs

January 3, 2023

A man found dead on the front lawn of a Perth home was likely to have been the victim of an attack by someone he knew, West Australian police say.

Homicide squad detectives are investigating after the body of the man in his 20s was found in the suburb of High Wycombe about 3.30pm on Tuesday.

“Investigators believe this man’s injuries are as a result of an assault and other people or a person would have been involved in that assault,” Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Fogell told reporters.

“I don’t believe this is a random attack and therefore members of the community should not be concerned.”

“He was located on the lawn. (Paramedics) attended first and pronounced him deceased.”

Det Snr Sgt Fogell said the man had since been identified and police were trying to contact his family to notify them about the incident.

Officers are also trying to contact the man who called paramedics.

“It’s the early stages of the investigation and we do have a number of lines of inquiry,” Det Snr Sgt Fogell said.

“We’re trying to sift through a mountain of information.”

Police have asked anyone in the area of Kalamunda Road on Tuesday morning to come forward.
