Qld cop to face court for computer hacking

A Qld police officer accused of accessing confidential information without authorisation has been stood down ahead of a court appearance for computer hacking.

A Queensland policeman accused of computer hacking has been stood down from official duties and summoned to appear in court.

The 50-year-old constable from Brisbane is being investigated by the Queensland Police Service following allegations he accessed confidential information without authorisation, police said on Tuesday.

He will appear in the Brisbane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for a computer hacking and misuse charge.

Meanwhile, two other policemen have been stood down accused of drink driving, police said on Tuesday.

A 42-year-old constable accused of drink driving while travelling to his southeast region workplace has been charged with failing to provide a specimen of breath and summoned to appear in the Southport Magistrate’s Court on June 12.

A 52-year-old operations support command sergeant, who allegedly drove under the influence of alcohol off duty, will appear in the Brisbane Magistrate’s Court on June 7 on a drink driving charge.
