People in the path of a bushfire raging in Perth’s leafy western suburbs have been told to evacuate the area as the blaze moves towards homes.

The fire is burning in dense and dry bushland at Bold Park in Floreat about 10km west of Perth, near City Beach.

“There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is approaching in the area and conditions are changing,” a emergency warning issued about 4.10pm (local time) on Monday said.

“If you are not prepared or you plan to leave, leave now if the way is clear.

The bushfire is moving in a northerly direction towards the Town of Cambridge Council buildings.

The fire started near the intersection of Perry Lakes Drive and Oceanc Road in Floreat.

The area is part of Perth’s affluent western suburbs and has numerous golf courses and natural bush parklands, including 437-hectare Bold Park.

Perth reached a maximum of 32.4C at 2.54pm with south southwest winds of about 30km/ph.
