A Townsville woman in her 30s has tested positive for the coronavirus in Melbourne after travelling from her home to Cairns and Brisbane.

Queensland has again recorded no new COVID-19 cases as a Townsville woman tested positive for the virus after travelling to Victoria for medical treatment.

The woman in her 30s left her home 11 days ago and went to Cairns then Brisbane before flying via Canberra to Melbourne, where she has family.

Queensland Health has placed a number of people, including health professionals, into two weeks’ quarantine, Deputy Premier Steven Miles said on Wednesday.

“We know that this individual had been treated in a number of health care facilities so we’ve put (the clinicians treating her) into quarantine,” he told reporters in Cairns.

Mr Miles said it was most likely the woman contracted the disease in Melbourne, where she had been for three days before being diagnosed.

A health alert has been issued for people who were in Hyde Park and Pimlico in Townsville between September 29 and October 1.

They’re advised to get tested for the virus if they develop any symptoms.

People on Qantas flight QF2302 from Townsville to Cairns on October 3 and Virgin flight VA782 from Cairns to Brisbane on October 6 have are also been told to monitor their health.

Health officials completed 5628 coronavirus tests in the 24 hours to Wednesday morning, with 274 of those in Townsville where traces of the virus were detected in the sewage on Saturday.

Mr Miles said the woman’s virus would be compared to that found in the wastewater.

Just two cases remain active in the state.

The last new case was reported on Saturday with a man in his 20s testing positive on day 10 of his Brisbane quarantine after returning from the Philippines.

Mr Miles said he remains concerned about continued outbreaks in Victoria and NSW.

“The chief health officer will continue to monitor them in coming days before making a recommendation (about opening the border to NSW) at the end of the month,” he said.
