A man has stabbed another man in the back on Queensland’s Gold Coast after a bottle was thrown at a passing car, police say.
A 25-year-old man was charged with one count of wounding after a 27-year-old man was stabbed at Broadbeach late on Saturday.
Police say three men were travelling in a car on the Gold Coast Highway when they stopped at a set of lights near Pacific Fair Drive about 10.40pm.
It is alleged a bottle was thrown at the vehicle from a nearby car, striking the back passenger window.
A 27-year-old man got out of the car and another bottle was thrown, hitting him on the side of his head, a police spokeswoman said on Sunday.
A group of men and teenagers then descended on the injured man.
He was allegedly stabbed in the back with an unknown object before the group drove away in a white sedan.
Officers intercepted the car on a nearby street shortly afterwards and seven occupants who fled on foot were quickly arrested, police say.
Three boys aged 16, a 17-year-old boy, and three men aged 18, 19 and 25 were arrested.
The injured man was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Police say the people involved were not known to each other.
The 25-year-old man is expected to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
