Disturbing videos of young women found on a mobile phone during a search related to a sexual assault investigation have prompted Queensland police to appeal for more victims to come forward.

A 30-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faced Brisbane Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday after allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting a woman he met via Tinder last month.

Detective Superintendent Tony Fleming says the alleged behaviour was predatory and concerning.

“This is behaviour that makes us very concerned about the welfare of our community,” he told reporters.

“It is intimate imagery of people in a really vulnerable position.”

“The issue here is the lack of consent.”

“Young women should be able to go about their lives without having to fear for this type of behaviour,” he said.

The man is charged with a string of offences, including stalking and making recordings in breach of privacy.

Police allege the woman, aged in her early 20s, met the man at an inner-city apartment, where she was assaulted after being administered a stupefying drug.

“She participated in a drink with that man,” Mr Fleming said.

“There was an impact on her consciousness, and after she was able to gather her wits she left and subsequently received some assistance from her family and also a GP.”

The woman later made a complaint to police and the man was arrested on Tuesday.

Officers allegedly found mobile phones, video recording equipment and prescription and illicit drugs during a search of his home.

Detectives also located footage allegedly of other young women on a mobile phone and arrested the man.

Analysis of the recordings is ongoing but police believe the videos were recorded at different times.

Mr Fleming called for any women who think they may have also been targeted by the man to come forward.

“We can’t define how many young women may be involved … but it is probably less than five,” he said.
