Right-wing parties top Qld Senate draw

Right-wing political parties have nabbed the top three spots on Queensland’s Senate ballot paper.
The Rise Up Australia Party, Pauline Hanson’s One Nation party and Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party were allocated positions one to three, respectively.
Australian Greens candidate and Deputy Leader Larissa Waters says Queenslanders are facing a “stark choice” on election day.
“A lot of Queenslanders will find that very confronting, we’re actually a very cohesive state, we’re a very multicultural state,” she told reporters on Wednesday.
“I think they’re reading our people wrong.”
Senator Waters said she’ll likely be fighting it out with Fraser Anning, Clive Palmer and One Nation’s Malcolm Roberts for the final Queensland Senate spot.
“We’ve essentially got a bevy of climate deniers or a person who wants to create jobs in renewable energy,” she said.
The LNP took fourth spot, the Greens eighth and the Labor Party position 10 at the ballot draw in Brisbane.
Clive Palmer said his United Australia Party would now be discussing preference deals with the LNP, Labor and other parties.
“The real story is 28 per cent of Australians have not yet decided who they’re going to vote for,” he said.
“When you’re undecided it really means you’ve made a decision not to vote Labor, Liberal or Green.”
