April 6, 2020

A man allegedly beat then fatally shot another man during a late-night altercation in rural Queensland town.

Benjamin James Nunns, 30, was charged with murder after he allegedly hit the man on the head and then shot him in Warwick, west of Brisbane, on Sunday morning.

Police say Nunns went to the 38-year-old’s home about 11pm on Saturday, where he allegedly became involved in an altercation with his victim.

It is alleged the man died after Nunns struck him on the head with an object then shot him in the chest.

Officers were called to the home about 4am on Sunday where they found the man’s body.

Nunns was arrested a short time later at a nearby home after allegedly breaking into it and is also charged with burglary.

He was not required to appear in Warwick Magistrates Court on Monday and was remanded in custody to reappear in the same court on July 1.
