People and animals are being evacuated from the path of an out-of-control bushfire on the Sunshine Coast.

Police have declared the blaze that is threatening homes at Cooroibah on Friday afternoon as an emergency.

They are urging residents in its path to leave now, including Noosa Pet Resort proprietor Pat Cutting.

“At the moment we’re hosing everything and we’re ready to get all the animals out of here,” she hurriedly told AAP.

Mr Cutting said she was in the process of evacuating 40 dogs, six cats and her 80-year-old mother.

“The rural fire brigade is on the corner. If they come down the driveway it’ll be:’yep, let’s go’.”

An exclusion zone encompassing Louis Bazzo Drive south to Kimbah Court, and McKinnon Drive east to Lake Cooroibah Road, continuing along Noosa River waterway north to Boreen Point, then across to McKinnon Drive at Louis Bazzo Drive.

Conditions are very dangerous and firefighters warn they may be unable to stop the blaze advancing toward the community.

“The fire may pose a threat to all lives directly in its path,” the QFES said.

Power, water, and mobile phone service may be lost and road conditions are expected to become extremely dangerous over the next several hours.
