A man who strangled an alcoholic mother and robbed her is expected to be sentenced for her murder in Brisbane.

A man found guilty of strangling an alcoholic Brisbane mother before robbing her is expected to be sentenced in a Queensland court.

Robert Graham Thomas was convicted in March of murdering Danielle Miller, 44.

Her body was found by police lying face up alongside a broken fan and a clump of her own hair in her Greenslopes home on October 2015.

She had a blood alcohol reading of 0.32, six times the legal limit for driving.

During Thomas’ trial, prosecutors said he and Ms Miller may have been in a sexual relationship.

Thomas admitted killing Ms Miller but denied it was murder.

Ms Miller’s body was naked from the waist down, with extensive bruising to her neck and upper chest.

She also had fractures to her neck and torso.

In the days after her death, Thomas told another man Ms Miller had humiliated him.

“He then showed him, with his two hands, what he did to her, and said that he choked her, he just squeezed,” prosecutor Dzenita Balic said.

The court heard Thomas tried to cover up his crime by throwing clothing Ms Miller had worn in the hours before her death into a bin at a building site at the property next door.

Other personal items, including a jewellery box, medication and wine bottles, were also found in the bin.

He also responded to sent texts from her before her death that she wouldn’t speak to him again.

After killing her, Thomas stole Ms Miller’s bank cards and withdrew $2000 cash from her account.

He sent $350 cash to his wife in the Philippines and paid for his return flights there before telling his boss he’d need a month off work.

Thomas will be sentenced in the Brisbane Supreme Court on Thursday.
