The man has died after being stabbed during a knife fight with another man on a suburban street in Logan.

The 33-year-old Meadowbrook father received fatal injuries to his neck after an argument broke out between two men, who knew each other, in Loganlea about 1.30 am on Sunday.

Acting Detective Inspector Ken Murray told reporters although police arrived in minutes of receiving the triple-zero call, the stabbing victim was already dead when they arrived.

He said officers detained a 27-year-old man at the scene and he was later charged with murder.

The Annerley man was also facing two counts of serious assault after allegedly spitting in the faces of two female officers.

Acting Det Insp Murray said the dead man’s family were “devastated”.

“Obviously the loss of a family member is sad, very sad,” he said.

The 27-year-old is expected to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police are appealed for witnesses to come forward.
