Teen didn’t know Qld stabbing victims

A 19-year-old man questioned over the deaths of the two men, aged 27 and 37, south of Townsville in the early hours of Monday, did not know the men, police say.

A teenager at the centre of investigations into the stabbing deaths of two men in a small north Queensland town did not know the men, police say.

The 19-year-old was questioned by detectives after Tom Davy, 27, and Corey Christensen, 37, died lying in pools of their own blood outside his home in the small coastal town of Alva, south of Townsville, about 12.30am on Monday.

He was released without charge on Tuesday afternoon.

Police believe a deadly brawl broke out after the men followed a 29-year-old Ayr woman to a Topton Street home.

But they now say the woman was injured before she arrived at the house.

She remains in hospital with a non-life threatening shoulder injury and is also not connected to the man, police say.

Detectives have questioned the woman, along with members of the local community.

Officers and paramedics were confronted by a horrific, bloody scene when they were called to the sleepy seaside town.

“You are talking about the dead of night where it’s dark, people with those sorts of injuries in the middle of the street,” Detective Inspector Chris Lawson told reporters.

Local of 30 years, Brett Ward, said the crime scene that unfolded in front of his beachside home was shocking.

“When you wake up and your daughter asks ‘is that a body bag on the side of the road’ … I feel bloody terrible mate,” he told AAP.

“We live in a nice quiet area and when something like this happens it’s just f***ing disgusting.”

One of the dead men was from the Alva area, while the other was not.
