An aerial search for a 24-year-old man who went missing while swimming with his mates in a lake in southern NSW has failed to find him.

The man, along with his brother and three friends, jumped into Lake Hume at Table Top near Albury for a swim about 9.45pm on Wednesday.

A search started on Wednesday night but was suspended due to poor visibility.

Emergency services remain at the lake to carry out a ground and in-water search on Thursday while a chopper was called in to assist.

“The 24-year-old man entered deeper water and was not seen to surface,” police said on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the body of a father who went missing in the Murrumbidgee River at Wagga Wagga has been found more than three days after he vanished.

The 28-year-old father-of-five failed to resurface while swimming in the Murrumbidgee River on Sunday evening with his partner and children.

His body was found on Thursday morning, near the Wiradjuri Boat Ramp about two kilometres from where he was last seen, police confirmed.
