A crane accident at a building site in northern Sydney is just the latest in a spate of incidents across NSW in 2017. 

* May 4: A mobile crane topples at a Manning Base Hospital building site in Taree on the NSW mid-north coast. One man falls four metres, breaking his leg.

* June 27: A crane operator is injured after falling onto steel reinforcing at Cronulla in Sydney.

* July 7: A 65-tonne mobile crane rolls onto its side, extensively damaging a two-storey house near Bega in southern NSW.

* Aug 6: A 30-metre construction crane topples into a 10-storey apartment block in Sydney’s Wolli Creek, forcing 160 residents to find alternative accommodation for a week. Two people are injured. 

* Aug 29: A 220-tonne purpose-built crane collapses into Sydney Harbour, launching a metal wire into Luna Park’s iconic face entrance.

* Sept 8: A crane at a building site in Ryde drops its load of timber, trapping a worker who suffers leg injuries.
