Chief Minister Natasha Fyles has revealed her new Northern Territory Labor cabinet, with women in all but two of the top jobs after the reshuffle.

Northern Territory Chief Minister Natasha Fyles has unveiled her new cabinet, with women in all but two of the top jobs after the reshuffle.

Ms Fyles will retain the health ministry and alcohol policy and pick up former chief minister Michael Gunner’s defence and major projects portfolios.

Deputy Chief Minister Nicole Manison has lost police, fire and emergency services and will instead take over tourism and hospitality from Ms Fyles.

Ms Manison also retained the mining and industry and northern Australia and trade ministries.

Former environment minister Eva Lawler has been promoted and will take on the treasury, education and territory development portfolios while retaining infrastructure, planning and logistics.

Speaker Ngaree Ah Kit was also promoted and will oversee the corporate and digital development, international education, disabilities and multicultural affairs portfolios.

Kate Wordon will retain the territory families and sports ministry and pick up police, fire and emergency services from Ms Manison.

Former remote housing minister Chansey Paech will become the NT’s new attorney-general and justice minister. He’s also the new leader of government business and will take on the racing, gaming and licensing portfolio.

Former education minister Lauren Moss will become the new minister for the environment, climate change and water security. She’s also been assigned the mental health and suicide prevention portfolio.

Former attorney-general Selena Uibo will pick up the housing and homelands, renewables and energy, essential services, aboriginal affairs and treaty and local decision making portfolios.

Paul Kirby will pick up agribusiness and fisheries and retain business, the jobs and training, and veteran’s affairs portfolios.

The Fyles government’s new cabinet includes seven women and two men, up from six women in the Gunner government.

Mr Gunner stood down on May 10, moments after handing down the NT budget, saying his head and heart were no longer in the job.

Ms Fyles was promoted to the job three days later, while Mr Gunner moved to the backbench.

The Labor caucus selected the member for Fong Lim, Mark Monaghan, to become the new Speaker.

The new cabinet will be sworn in later on Monday.
