A NSW learner driver has led police on a late-night high-speed pursuit through the streets of Coffs Harbour before crashing into a power pole.
Officers initially tried to pull the teenage Commodore driver over for a random breath test about 11pm on Friday.
But the 17-year-old allegedly sped off with his passengers – two girls aged 14 and 16 and a 12-year-old boy – in the vehicle.
The car reached 130km/h during the ensuing chase before hitting a curb and crashing into a power pole.
All four occupants were uninjured and fled the scene on foot.
Police say the driver was found in nearby bush and returned a positive breath analysis reading of 0.028.
His licence was suspended and he has been charged with dangerous driving, driving while unaccompanied and engaging police in a pursuit.
He has been granted strict conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on November 23.
