No Life for northern NSW bush doof

Police have cancelled a bush-doof party planned for this weekend in NSW’s north amid planning and safety concerns.

August 10, 2017

A three-day bush-doof party planned for this weekend in northern NSW has been cancelled by police after investigations found planning permission had never been granted.

NSW Police decided to cancel the Life bush doof after it was discovered organisers failed to attain planning approval.

Police were also concerned about drug use and safety following the deaths of partygoers at similar events last year, Sergeant Steve Underhill said on Thursday.

“We don’t want that to happen again,” Sgt Underhill told AAP.

“That’s felt across the whole community here.”

Life is described by ticket sellers online as an “outdoor music gig featuring some of the freshest tunes from around the area”.

It was scheduled to run from Friday to Sunday on a rural property in the Tabulam Bonalbo area approximately 30 kilometres west of Casino.

Officers will attend the site to make sure it doesn’t go ahead, police said in a statement.

A 26-year-old man died from a drug overdose at a bush doof on the NSW and Queensland border on New Year’s Eve.

Another 24-year-old man was found dead at a rave party on a rural property in northern NSW, west of Grafton, in June 2016.

Life organiser Abobe MonAmi and Eventbrite have been contacted for comment.
