Australian wines the best in Chile
Taylors Wines have beaten out the best wineries from South America to win two Gold and Silver medals at Latin America’s most important wine competition.

Australian wine makers have done it again.
Taylors Wines from South Australia’s Clare Valley have picked up two Great Gold medals and two Silver medals at the prestigious Catad’Or Wine Awards in Chile.
Third generation winemaker and managing director Mitchell Taylor says the win in Santiago is a great achievement and will boost the winery’s exports to China.
“Given the success of wines from Chile in markets like China, awards like this give us an opportunity to benchmark our wines against some of the best,” Mr Taylor told AAP on Tuesday.
Catad’Or Wine Award judge, Shao Xuedong, from China’s Junding Winery said Australia had become a strong competitor against Chile in the China wine imports market.
“There is an increasing need of good quality wines at good prices and next year the tax for these [Australian] producers will be reduced to zero,” he said.
“So their market value will be much closer to their Chilean competition.”
China is Australia’s top wine market. In 2016 $520 million worth was exported, up 40 per cent from 2015.
