Qld home invader jailed for six years

A Brisbane man has been jailed for six years for armed robbery, home invasion and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm.

A drug-affected home invader who pointed a loaded shotgun at a Brisbane mother and her son before stealing her car has been jailed for six years.

David Vincent Darijono, 30, pleaded guilty in the Brisbane District Court on Wednesday to a string of offences, including armed robbery and threats in April 2018.

The court heard Darijono burst into the home one night after sticking his hand through a rip in the screen door and unlocking it.

He pointed the sawn-off shotgun at the woman and her son, who were sitting on their couch in their loungeroom.

“(She) was begging with you not to hurt her kids,” Judge Gregory Lynham said, referring to the woman’s three other children who were also in the home.

After the woman’s son handed over the key to his mum’s minivan, Darijono fled the home but soon caught the attention of a passing off-duty policeman.

“Smoke and bits of tyre coming from the front passenger side … when you drove the vehicle out of the complainant’s driveway you collided with an object,” Judge Lynham said.

Police tracked the vehicle from the air before Darijono was arrested trying to flee the car, in which officers found the shotgun and a tomahawk.

“You told police you’d taken ice … The (woman’s) vehicle was so badly damaged, ultimately it was written off,” Judge Lynham said.

A year earlier, Darijono was charged following a drug and alcohol-fuelled car accident that left his passenger in intensive care with leg and face injuries.

The court heard Darijono was travelling more than twice the 60km/h speed limit when he collided with a car driven by a 69-year-old man.

“That caused the complainant’s Captiva to complete two 360 degree anticlockwise spins before coming to rest 20 metres from the impact site,” Judge Lynham said.

“It’s fair to say Mr Darijono, you have what can only be described as a relatively short but appalling criminal history.”

Darijono was sentenced to three years for five home invasion related charges and an additional three years for dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm, stemming from the 2017 car accident.

He will be eligible for parole after serving two years.
