Four sought over Dutton office attack

Detectives are calling for witnesses following an attack by vandals on Peter Dutton’s Brisbane office on the eve of his failed bid to unseat the prime minister.

August 25, 2018

Police are searching for four vandals who smashed the front of Peter Dutton’s electorate office and sprayed offensive comments about him on a nearby footpath.

The Brisbane office was extensively damaged on the eve of the Canberra party room vote brought on when the former home affairs minister mounted a failed challenge to topple then prime minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Footage released by police shows four people in track pants, hooded jumpers and with their faces covered throwing brick pavers at the office and smashing windows with a baton around 1.45am on Friday.

Four reinforced glass windows, two glass doors and walls were extensively damaged.

A nearby footpath was also defaced with the words: “Deport Dutton” along with an obscene comment.

Detectives are calling on witnesses to suspicious behaviour in the area at the time to come forward.

It’s not the first time Mr Dutton’s office has been targeted.

In March, a man and a woman hurled a rock and paint at the front of the premises when three people were inside. No one was hurt.
