Mark Waugh will finish up as a national selector for the Australian cricket team after taking up a commentating role with pay-TV broadcaster, Fox Sports.
Waugh will not renew his contract when it expires on August 31 but will remain on the panel for the upcoming Australian tours of England and Zimbabwe.
The former Test batsman said it had been a tough decision and he was proud of the Australian team’s achievements during his time as a selector.
“I firmly believe Australian cricket has a wealth of talented players in its ranks right now,” he said in a Cricket Australia statement on Tuesday.
“I look forward to watching the team continue to go from strength to strength in the years to come.”
A decision on a replacement for Waugh, who focused on the T20 format, has not been announced.
Waugh, who played 128 Tests and 244 ODIs for Australia, joined the national selection panel in 2014.
