A Brisbane pedophile who plied two boys with alcohol before stalking and assaulting one of them when his advances were rebuffed has been jailed.

A Brisbane man has been jailed after sexually grooming two boys during sleepovers before stalking and violently attacking one of them when his amorous advances were rejected.

Dillon Victor David Leahy, 26, pleaded guilty to indecent treatment and grooming of children with the intent to perform a sexual act.

He also admitted stalking, threatening violence and assault in the same time frame, between June 2017 and June 2018.

The Brisbane District Court on Tuesday heard Leahy’s offending began during a series of sleepovers when he plied two 13-year-old boys with alcohol and began sexually touching them.

“In frustration (that) one of the children would not sleep in the same bed as him he threw a mobile phone, causing bruising and swelling to that child’s head,” prosecutor Michael Gawrych says.

The stalking began with Leahy messaging his victims via Instagram and Snapchat on a near-daily basis.

“He sent threatening messages saying ‘I’ll get you dog’ and ‘I’ll bash you’ and words to that effect”, Mr Gawrych said.

On two occasions it escalated into violence, which caused one boy’s family to move home to protect their son.

However, Leahy found his victim and moved into a home 100 metres down the road, Mr Gawrych said.

The stalking then continued.

Defence lawyer Rob Glenday says Leahy suffered from suicidal thoughts and was also a victim of sexual abuse.

It prompted Judge Julie Dick to question why he didn’t have more insight into what his victims were going through.

“It’s not just the indecent treatment, it’s the nasty stalking and violence attached to it,” she said.

Judge Dick remarked how moving one boy’s victim impact statement was.

“I feel desperately sorry for this child.”

She sentenced Leahy to two years and eight months’ prison for the grooming and stalking charges, and two years for the additional charges.

The terms are to be served concurrently.
